Cancellation Policy
1. Overview
This policy explains how cancellations, refunds and booking changes work when you reserve a stay at The George, Whitley Bay, either directly through our website or via a connected booking platform (e.g. Airbnb, Booking.com, etc.).
2. Cancellation by the Guest
We understand that travel plans sometimes change. Our cancellation terms are designed to be fair to both our guests and our small business.
More than 30 days before check-in:
You’ll receive a full refund of any amount paid (less any non-refundable service or transaction fees charged by your booking platform).Between 7 and 30 days before check-in:
You’ll receive a 50% refund of the total booking cost.Less than 7 days before check-in or No-show:
The full booking amount will be charged and is non-refundable.
If you’ve booked a non-refundable rate, no refund is available under any circumstance (unless required by law).
3. Changing Your Booking
If you wish to change your stay dates:
Requests made more than 30 days before check-in can usually be moved at no cost, subject to availability.
Requests made within 30 days may be treated as a cancellation and re-booking under the above terms.
4. Cancellation by The George
In the rare event that The George needs to cancel your booking (for example, due to maintenance, safety concerns or unforeseen circumstances), you’ll receive a full refund or be offered alternative available dates.
We cannot accept responsibility for additional costs such as travel arrangements or third-party bookings.
5. Force Majeure / Exceptional Circumstances
In cases beyond either party’s control (e.g. extreme weather, illness, government restrictions), The George may, at its discretion, offer a refund, credit note, or new dates.
6. Third-Party Bookings
If you booked via another platform (e.g. Airbnb or Booking.com), that platform’s terms may apply in addition to this policy. Please refer to your booking confirmation for details.
7. Refund Processing
Refunds (where eligible) will be returned to the original payment method within 10 working days, depending on your payment provider.
8. Early Departure
If you decide to leave before your scheduled check-out, the full cost of your stay remains payable.
9. Policy Updates
The version of this policy published on thegeorgewhitleybay.com (or displayed at the time of booking) applies to your reservation. We may update this policy periodically.
